RLS Podcast 2: Vladimir Skala on Rusyn History and the Failing Education System in Slovakia

Vladimir Skala joins Starik Pollock to discuss his latest guest article with RLS and the failing education system for Rusyns in Slovakia.

Vladimir is a native of the Presov region, where the majority of Carpathian Rus within Slovakia is located. Having spent parts of his childhood in both America and Slovakia, his perspective in the realm of culture creation is particularly unique.

It is estimated there could be as high as 150,000 Rusyns in the country, but only around 60,000 identify as such. Even with a renewed cultural scene in the last 30 years, there is still a serious problem of decline in all manners of life for this population.
