A description of the debate over an appropriate literary language in Subcarpathian Rus published in the last years of the First Czechoslovak Republic. The article also deals with the terminology issue in the Czech language.
The author describes the dynamics of the Ukrainophile and Russophile currents in Subcarpathian Rus over the interwar decades. Claiming both parties have stopped accommodating the local vernacular, he sees potential in the sporadically present Rusynophile idea. Previous polemical literature as well as the relevant legal documents are referenced throughout.
