The Soviet Seizure of Subcarpathian Ruthenia

A first-hand account of Czechoslovakia’s post-war administration in Subcarpathian Rus’, headed by František Němec, Government Delegate for the Liberated Territories.

Němec reports on his interaction and communication with the Red Army and local Communists, who successfully impeded all Czechoslovak activities in the province and orchestrated a pro-Soviet separatist movement. He then describes the negotiations in Moscow over the following two months, where it became clear that Subcarpathian Rus’ would inevitably be ceded to the Soviet Union.

Finally, the authors present 78 documents relating to the Czechoslovak delegation, translated to English.
