Expose Dr. G. I. Žatkoviča, Byvšeho Gubernatora Podkarpatskoj Rusi

A political exposé by Gregory Žatkovyč, the first governor of Subcarpathian Rus, an autonomous province of interwar Czechoslovakia created to represent Carpatho-Rusyns within that state. Here, Žatkovyč deals with the reasons for his prompt resignation, outlining the American Rusyn initiative for unification with Czechoslovakia, the promises given to the Rusyn representatives, and their subsequent violation by the Czechoslovak leadership. In particular, the issues of self-government and demarcation with Slovakia became politically contentious and were not successfully addressed. Žatkovyč’s critique proved damaging to Czechoslovakia’s image and was later used by various actors.
