The article, part of the series “Československá vlastivěda” (no. 3, 1934), provides an overview of the vernacular dialects and literary history of Rusyns in what was then Czechoslovakia (Subcarpathian Rus and the Prešov Region). The brief and somewhat imprecise chapter on dialectology did not produce a significant impact in science – however, it became known among Rusyns readers thanks to a recently issued Russian-language translation (1995) and a dialect area map.
